FTS Recovery to advise on rescue of fashion brand In The Style

Following recent media reports, we confirm that the Board of online fashion brand In The Style has filed a notice of intention to appoint Marco Piacquadio​ and Alan Coleman, of FTS Recovery Limited, as administrators.

The insolvency firm, a leading boutique restructuring practice in the UK, immediately began the marketing process for a pre-pack administration with a view to rescuing the business.

Marco Piacquadio, Director FTS Recovery, said: “We are focused on seeking to rescue as many elements of the business as is possible, always front of mind being the position of the employees and other creditors.

We are working tirelessly to protect the jobs of its UK workforce. We expect to be in a position to make a further announcement within the next few weeks.”

In The Style specialised in providing celebrity-inspired fashion at high street prices. The Manchester-based brand was founded by CEO Adam Frisby in 2013, growing from a small home-based business to be valued at £105 million by the London Stock Exchange at its peak in March 2021. It employs a workforce of 150 people in the UK.

In recent years the company has suffered a number of economic headwinds which have resulted in cash-flow difficulties and left it unable to meet all its current liabilities.

Aside from a significant drop in turnover, the company is mindful of the impact of the increasing tax burden, particularly those announced in last October’s budget, having a direct impact on its bottom line as a result of increasing employment costs.

Alan Coleman, Director FTS Recovery, said: “A devastating combination of rising costs and declining consumer confidence have hit the UK’s retail sector hard in recent years, In The Style included.”
